Highlander redesigns the interaction trekkers have with their food.
Hikers and trekkers carry food such as nutrition bars, rice, pasta, noodles etc, according to the nutrition values they require along with small stoves and utensils which increase their load weight. Since food consumption is especially important, they often compromise the weight in their other belongings. We thus aimed at redesigning the interaction with their food.
Opportunities:
Reduction of extra utensils
Providing easy consumption
Simplifying cleaning process
Improving storage/ reuse
The Design:
The form of the pouch when bought is semi flat. To use, the sealing at the top of the packaging has to be ripped. The food is freeze dried, and requires boiling water. After filling it with water using the zip provisions, the packet needs to be sealed for 10 – 15 minutes. For easy consumption the ends can be pressed to create a wide-mouthed container.
Material: Aluminium Laminate
The material provides sufficient barrier protection for the food.
It is lightweight and space efficient.
It also has a high decorative potential, as it is compatible with many printing technologies.
