The Dialogue Game
The game aims at making people more accepting of others through spreading awareness and enabling discussions.
The methodology followed for this project was the Vision in Product Design (VIP) method. The context for this the project is one’s ability to be independent. Different factors were collected in this context area, which lead to the creation of a world view.
The aim is to make everyone capable to do things independently as they wish by tackling the general mindsets of people, making them more accepting of others. This is achieved through the game spreading awareness and enabling discussions.
People do rely on others (humans by nature are interdependent) but this dependence is sometimes misused which forces people into a potential wrong direction.
The Play
In the game players have a character and are provided a situation. They analyze through a dialogue what they would do in the specific situation. The outcome of the game is collectively created (momentary) ‘pieces of art’.
Players are given a random set of shape pieces and three character cards.
The board is divided into 4 topics- products, people, public interventions and other.
The facilitator reads out the situation card.
The players discuss potential barriers, place a shape piece to the topic section which is the most helpful in the situation and what could be changed in society.
At the end of the game you can visualize which areas people are more dependent on and what needs to be changed.
